TheGrint Golf – Tour Feature

The Tour Feature

In this Blog post we are taking the opportunity of explaining how this Feature works and where you can find it on the App.

This feature allows the Grinter to create a Tour among his/her friends or anyone who wants to participate on a Tour and Events using the App. It also allows the Organizer to set up the Tour AND the Live Leaderboard directly from the Tour Feature. This way whenever it’s time to Play the Tour Events, you already have set up the Leaderboard, with the Golf Course, the Tees and the Date of the Event.

So, this is how it works:

A Tour is simply a series of Events, where golfers participate and accumulate points. Each event can have up to 4 Rounds. So simply imagine the PGA Tour FedEx Cup for regular golfers. Below tips on how to use it…

On the Main Menu Tap on “My Tours”

Then select the Tour you already have created (Green Arrow) or Tap on “New Tour” on the Right Hand Side (Red Arrow) to create a new one.

If you Tap on “New Tour” you will see this Screen (make sure you Tap on “Save Tour” at the bottom after you fill out everything):

After you create the Tour or have one already created and you select it on the Tour List, you will see this Screen (below) where you will see the Tour Stats and the Tour Ranking. You can also select the Members Option on the Top to Manage the Members (Add or Delete); the Options button will take you to the Screen above.

If you Tap on Events on the Top Right Corner (above), you will be able to see the Events you have created (or can create) within the Tour. These Events count towards that Tour; and you can have as many as 4 Rounds within that Event (for example, you can have a whole Weekend of Golf as one Event).

Like the Tour Screens, you can View the Event Ranking (each event has its own Ranking); you can view/edit the Event under the Options button, and you can manage the Handicaps for each of the Event Members.

KEEP IN MIND THAT ONLY the Tour Organizer has the power of Editing and Adjusting the Tour itself as well as the Members’ Handicap. The Members can’t edit anything.

Now, one of the best part of this New Feature is that within this Tour feature, you get the Option of creating and Managing a Live Leaderboard for each of the Rounds you create on each Event.

For those Grinters who haven’t try the Live Leaderboard, this feature allow the Grinters to Play a Round of Golf and keep an eye on other players who are not in your Foursome. Meaning that you don’t have to wait until all of the Event Members finish playing to see who Won or who Lost.

You can have only one person to keep the Scores of each of the Foursome Members within the Live Leaderboard, but anyone can Join that Leaderboard on their own Phones to see how everyone is doing while you play.

We made this Feature as simple as possible so that everyone can use it anytime without having to input a lot of information and still Create a Tour or just a Friendly Game among Friends.

Remember that you can always contact TheGrint support through contactus@thegrint.com at anytime if you have questions or have any problems with the Feature or App.

Stay tuned for more Updates on New Features!

Enjoy this new feature and think it’s a great improvement for the app.

In the future, will the option to delete/remove a Tour/Event/Round be added as the only option currently is to hide and if I have to re-create either of the 3 sections, the previous is still active and adds confusion.

    • Hi Thomas, good afternoon! Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate it!

We actually have Hide instead of Delete just in case someone Deletes a Tour, Event or Round by mistake and then they would lose all the information.

We prefer Members to have the Option of Hide just in case that happens. They would have the Information right there whenever they want to see it again.

We know some people would prefer the Delete option, but to avoid problems with Deleted information, we thought that was the best option.

      We apologize for any inconvenience.

Could there be a delete option once its been hidden?
Also I once mentioned tours for 9 holes, will this be an option that will be released?

        • Hi Gareth, good afternoon,

          Thank you for contacting us.

For now, no. There is only the Option of Hide. We prefer to not have the Delete option in case some of the Members mistakenly Delete a Tour or an Event or a Round and they would lose all the information. With the Hide option, you still have the information there in case you make a mistake, and if you don’t need or want that Tour, Event or Round, you can just Hide it.

Regarding the 9-hole Tours, for now, we are not planning on adding them. It is something we have in mind, but for now, we are focusing on other priorities.

Let us know if you have any questions.

            Thank you for the reply,
Re the 9 hole tour, thats a shame, 90% of our golf games are 9 hole but with multiply rounds at different course with rounds being the same day/weekend or months apart.

          • Hi Gareth, good afternoon,

Thank you for getting back to us.

There is one way you guys can use the Tours. Only if you guys use the Combine 9-hole Scores tool.

You guys would have to first, create the Tour and the Round. Then after you guys play both Rounds (meaning the 2 9-hole Rounds that will count towards that Tour and Event), you can go to the Website, go to Scores, and then click on “Combined 9 Scores”. Type all the information (the Courses, which 9 you played on each Course, the Tees and the Date) and then select the Dropdown that says “events” and select the Tour and Round you created before.

Then click on Submit at the bottom.

That is the only way you guys can use the Tour section for now. But it is a solution.

            Hopefully it helps.

  2. Since I barely started using the app, and want to utilize this feature, is there a way to input prior event results so we can move forward using the app?

    • Hi Ron, good afternoon,

      Thank you for contacting us.

We would be happy to help you out.

You can transfer your Scores with your Putts by using the Import Scores Tool on the Website, under Score (Add score).

To import scores simply copy paste your scores into the below table. Organize your table in a spreadsheet with one round per row. After you have input theScores you will have to input the Course. Tee box and Date manually for each round.

Or you can use the Scorecard Picture Service where you can take a Photo of your Scorecards (individually) using the App and the SPS Service and we will upload the Scores for you as soon as we receive them. To learn more about how the SPS Service works, you can go to our Blog, then click on SPS.

Let us know if you have any questions or need anything else.

  3. If you’re basing your scoring ranking, and points awarded, on Gross Score, but two players went to extra holes to determine a winner, how do they put their gross score in and be awarded the correct amount of points for 1st place and 2nd place respectively. Right now, it takes total points for 1st and 2nd place and divides it into two and awards the points accordingly.

    • Hi, good afternoon,

As of now, there is no way of doing that. But the New Tour Feature that we are developing is coming with that feature and those options.

      We apologize for the inconvenience.

      Regards,

12 of us just bought the app for a friends tournament in scottsdale. The problem is that nobody has a proper handicap as all of the scores entered will only be used to calculate twice a month…but our event is on Oct 28. Any way to get around this…really want to use the live leaderboard while we are there!
