Cape Wickham Golf Course – Australia

Cape Wickham Golf Course

Located in King Island, Tasmania, exactly on the northern cape of King Island, about a 45 minute drive from the airport. It officially opened in November of 2015.

It is Ranked #24th in the World and #3 in Australia by GolfDigest.

The golf course was designed by American Golf architect Mike DeVries with local support from Darius OliverAn.

There are 8 complete Holes next to the Ocean and other Greens as well right next to it. The 18th was built directly above the Beach at Victoria Cove, which comes in play.

The 1st and 18th have been described as possibly the best opening and closing Holes in the World… And the 9th Hole is been said it is the “greatest Par 5 in the World” (below).

This Golf Course also has the tallest Lighthouse in the Southern Hemisphere and of any Golf Course in the World; it was built in 1861 and it is still a Working Lighthouse.

This Golf Course was built in a perfect place created by Mother Nature suited just for a Golf Course and nothing else. This Course has everything, from rocky cliffs, sandy white beach and cove, dune corridors, and Holes right on the shoreline; definitely a Golf Course to experience it all.

The Cost to play at Cape Wickham is not as expensive as you might think with all the beauty and incredible sceneries they have, it is just $150 for 18-holes and they also have an All Day Rate of $195. One of the best parts is that they let you walk the Course as well so you can really experience the whole Course and interact with everything around you while you play.

Every single Hole in Cape Wickham has an Ocean view, even the inland Holes offer much more than Pebble Beach, and that’s a lot to say.

Even though the Course looks with a lot of hills, dunes and tall-grass, it is a Course that lets you play and it will only punish you if you make the wrong decision and if there are some crosswinds picking up; but the Fairways are wide giving you a chance to hit it in the correct place and enjoy the experience.

Below is the 18th Hole…

Definitely another “must” Golf Course we all have to go and play!

A little far away from everything… But good things, don’t come easy.
