Why did we start TheGrint? – Going back to Pencil and Paper

I remember that keeping a Handicap used to be a lot easier. My dad, who taught me the game, would take me to the golf course and let me write the scores on the Scorecard. I was good with math (so as he) so he let keep track of our scores and putts and do the math. And then at the end of our rounds; specially when it was a good score, I remember the joy of signing it and introducing the scorecard in a wooden box that would magically calculate my Handicap for me… All that magic is gone these days

Don’t get me wrong I still feel the joy of a great score and posting it, but the pain of remembering to take my scorecard home, and then going into a paid website to enter myself is too much. Plus, sometimes my buddies would take the scorecard and then I would have to call them or text them to send me my score details, which they never do. So then I tried a bunch of apps, and they were Ok, but I was so distracted with the phone that the time away was no longer time away.

Then I thought, I hope that I had my magical wooden box again. Having someone else do it for you would be perfect.

Scorecard Picture Service Demo

So that’s why we started TheGrint. Think about it, is super simple, you take a picture of the scorecard at the end of your round, send it, and that’s it. Now, there is a lot of work going in the background to transcribe those scores but the joy of the service is priceless.
